Selling Antique Firearms from Canada to the U.S.A.

I have a question for the American members here. I have an 1895 mauser which from what I have read is considered an antique in the U.S. therefore I think it can be imported without a lot of red tape. Is is possible for a Canadian to sell an antique firearm to an American and ship by mail without having to jump through all the hoops required of a modern firearm?
