My L42A1 Kit

I got this some years ago at the Indy 1500. Rifle, scope, can, and chest were purchased together and I bought the rest of the kit as I could find items for sale. I have used this rifle in my local club matches. I did well until the stiker broke during the rapid fire stage. I know what I bad thing I done but it is my rifle and I got such a thrill from using this wonderful gun. It is very accurate with the back-up sight and probably breathtaking with the scope. I am going to have the striker repaired and then find it a new home.

Is that Peter Ls hand written scope adjustment instructions, they certainly look old enough!

Is the striker not just a No.4 item that could be replaced rather than repaired? Or is that what you meant?

I will review the books I have for the specs. I believe it is a 2 stage trigger and proper repair involves replacing the striker and adjusting some "bumps" on the striker for correct stage 1 and 2 pulls. I could be wrong, I have been wrong before. I think I have a line on someone that is competent to sub for a brit armorer. I would like to keep this rifle up to snuff on all points, it deserves to be cared for well. If I am right, sending the bolt alone for repair will cause it to function. Having the rifle and bolt in hand allows for the adjustment of the pulls. I am hoping I can jump in the car and drive 11 hours south of Indiana to deliver the rifle for repair. I need to make some phone calls to flesh the plan out.

I noticed something interesting about about the serial numbers on your receiver. It is hand stamped on the buttstock socket as is normally seen but it appears that the serial number is stamped under the "L42A1 D 71" nomenclature in a fashion that almost looks roll stamped (straight and even). Any guess as to why it was repeated? Also, your three draw scope has the small leather case for either a high or low eyepiece and is not needed for the Telescope Scout Regt.

I suggest that you read a thread about setting up the bolt on your rifle gunfish. But if you are changing the striker then I'd venture to suggest that you WILL upset the pull-offs as the striker is attached to the cocking piece which is affected by the sear and.......... and so on! Everything on a bolt is interrelated and whatever you do/replace affects another part so getting it dead right is a bit of a challenge the first 100 or so times! Then it gets easy after that. And no....., you don't alter bumps on the striker. You stone the bents on the trigger!

Sorry, but I have had a number of HCR SCOUT scopes through my hands, and never seen basic surface engraving like that on any of them, so I would venture someone has done that after manufacture.
Would the real 28675 numbered scope stand up please?

The earlier image of the logo is about 5X magnification, it is difficult to see at 1X. Or someone could have put there at a later date I'll have to do more research.


I don't recall seeing this splice on any other L42 stocks. # matches scope #.[IMG]

The serial # digits on the receiver are aligned. I have no clue as to why they are there.
