It looks like the bloke at the back with the ammo box is using the chap in the front as cover. I have to say though, that it was not be that 'hot' then on that beach since there are geezers in the distance sitting up doing whatever.

I remember a discussion of the Normandy Beachhead where the unreality of the situation and the contrast were the topic: in one place everyone moving would be killed and there would be bodies lying everywhere and a few yards away there would be guys walking upright in the open as if nothing was happening. It had to do with the limits of the overlapping fields of fire of the defenses.
