M1/M2 Springfield Stocks

The M1/M2 Springfield Stock which Manufacturer used them on Carbines. I been finding these stocks in the storage and came across a really nice very Straight Up, no dents or dings, looks almost new other than needs some oil, i haven't found much about which Carbine Manufacturer used them, Thanks

I think they were all post war replacements, Ruth's book talks a little about them. I bought one a few years ago (M2). It is possible that any re-arsenaled Carbine could have one.

Thanks Dave, its definitely a M2 but looks like it was made yesterday, it real nice. I need to look where i can sell this Springfield. I was reading about the company and need to know who has a need for it, Thanks

Ive got one it's marked SA on the left front rail,it's also birch and in my opion UGLY compared to the Walnut. Anyhow like allready said once the M2's went into production that's pretty much all that was made going forward, they could have wound up any that went through a re-arsenal. Marlin made them too.

Frank, Springfield only made replacement stocks and the vast majority of them were post war and all M2 pot belly stocks. Again the vast majority of these were made with birch and the grain in birch makes it hard to take a nice looking stain. It comes out looking blotchy. If you cut the stain about 50% with alcohol it will penetrate into the grain better and makes a better looking finish. Just be sure the stain doesn't have any kind of sealer in it.

I found another M2 Stock, it looks like someone Sanded it, but it looks to me like a Pecan Shell with Very nice Dark grain. I had a M2 Stock once before and it was very light kinda blondish. Can you see these few pics and determine what it is. Maybe next time i get around to that wood worker for him to let me know what it is. The guy i got it from told me it was Walnut. I like to use these stocks to take shooting so i dont worry about messing up my Nice Original Stocks. Thanks
