Weird handguard
What is this Krag
handguard? Looks like the front is cut for the 1901 sight's lever, the back for the 1898 or 1902, but the slot length and width appear to be for the 1892 or 1896 sight. Original Krag Rifle Stock Piece Upper Wood Hand Guard - eBay (item 140311048898 end time Apr-05-09 17:31:48 PDT)

It is not a 1901, it is a 1902 handguard that someone has remodeled.

Looks like a repro that Bubba got creative with!!

I think you're right, the clips are not right, and the cut for the receiver ring is absent. Guess he needed a little more thumb purchase to catch the 1892/1896 ladder, and that he didn't like having the numbers on the side covered up any. Good eye! Looks like an oldie repro though.

Are you sure it's not for a Norweigian or Dane Krag
?

Not a Krag!
It's not a Krag
handguard at all, been digging around, appears to be for a Winchester 1895 musket.

I bought it, it appears to be for the Russian
Model of the 1895 Military Musket and will be sold for 2 to 4 times what I paid for it.
