How common are Pattern 1903 bayonets?
In the US anyway? It seems like most people don't know what they are, even vs a P'88 but should I pick up any one I spot or wait for a nice one? Haven't seen one with a scabbard yet either.

Get what you can and then you can get a better one. Even here in Canada
they don't show up too often. When they do they usually don't have scabbards.

Agreed, P03 bayonets are not easy to find in the US or anywhere else for that matter. Scabbards for the P88 and P03 are downright rare.

Again, it has issues but will do until you can find a better one. The one you want would be the original 1888 scabbard. Their drag or chape would look a bit slimmer and more pointed. They also have the leather frog...

Nice...with the internal chape... I had an 1888 scabbard but it was about mint and had the leather frog too. Whole thing was almost mint. Now long gone. Hooked quillion 1907 too.

They are reasonably common here (but not cheap, for a good one). The later scabbards had design defects and in many cases the older pattern ended up being used instead.

The last one I bought was listed as a Mauser bayonet. Finding one in great shape is difficult, but OK ones show up pretty often, but for how long? Buy and upgrade
