Hi,

I have a Remington (receiver) M1917 with some barrel markings I don't understand. On the bottom of the barrel just ahead of the receiver, there are the letters "GG" beneath which is the number "298." Can anyone tell me what they mean? I can't find reference to "GG" anyplace I've looked.
