I picked this SMLE up from an auction yesterday and got it for a song and a dance. The auction house advertised it as having bolt issues because the bolt wouldn't close. They didn't realize an Enfield is a cock on close, nothing wrong with it. It by far is the nicest SMLE I have ever layed eyes on. There doesn't appear to have ever had been disassembled, the bore is mint, the bolt face is smooth as new, and not even wear on the magazine follower from cycling the bolt. I know there is some wear on the high spots of bluing but I wish I look this good in 100 years. Its non import marked and sometime in its life it was in Canadian ownership.

The rifle is very nice but has been gone over and had some work done.

At the very least the buttstock has been sanded and refinished. Given the wood color match, it is very likely the same was down with the rest of the wood.
Yes unusual to have the windage adj sight on there as I thought the discontinued them pre-'17 all the while a tidy looking rig of course you know a range report is warranted.............
Cracked rear handguard too. And definately track wear from a lot of use on the magazine platform. But that doesn't detract from its good overall condition. I'd suggest that a previous owner varnished the wood, put the older adjustable backsight on and didn't use it much thereafter. They're out there somewhere.........

Well I got it for $60.00, along with a beautiful non import Savage no4, a VERY nice Winchester P14 and a Steyr 95/24 in 8mm Mauser. It was a good auction indeed.
60!!!!! What a bargain, you pay that for a really good SMLE magazine in the UK now, what a great find, lovley looking example. I would give it a home in a heart beat!
