I'll take this opportunity to say goodbye to you all and wish you well.

I can't see any advantage (to anyone) for me to remain here. I can't offer any insights. nor any help . Everyone here seems to know everything far better than I.

Good luck to everyone and I hope you can buy and shoot everything you either want or need.

    I wish you well.

    Goodbye.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... I have to say that we don't often see many of these type of posts, but we do understand that our site and it's rules of behavior governing the acceptable interaction between members isn't for everyone.

Our site has been provided absolutely free to collectors for the last 10 years by my wife and I, along with a small group of Contributing Members, who cover all of the costs for its operations. The member community consists of serious collectors, researchers and many authors of books on service rifles, plus other content.

We're supposed to be sharing our forums to interact with a lot of like minded folks, who share a common love of old milsurps and the terrific collecting hobby surrounding them. Most of our 26,000+ registered members want to come here talk about Enfields, Mausers, M1icon Carbines, 1903 Springfields, or whatever genre of collectible firearm they love to converse about.

We really don't want to see a lot of good "electronic" friends who may differ in political, religious, or lifestyle views, ruin an otherwise enjoyable experience talking about old guns, by permitting a posting environment which encourages or promotes arguments and divisiveness. Often it's not about what someone says, but how they say it.

There are many gun sites on the Internet who permit posters in any threads to engage in arguing with less than polite discourse between members. If anyone really needs a "fix" of watching perfectly sane and normal people deteriorate into name calling and verbal insults, join one of those sites and have at it.

To the rest of our membership, I do apologize that we tend let "sandbox" behavior sometimes drag on too long before we step in, but it is a fine line trying to maintain social order and the individual member's right to express their opinions on our hobby, particularly when it involves anonymous identities with communication styles coming from so many varied intellectual and cultural backgrounds.

    Thanks for everyone's patience ...

    Regards,
    Doug
