Need Help Identifying a Magazine
The seller I purchased my Inland from said the magazine on the right stamped with a "U" is a Korean reproduction. But it works so well and looks so much like the original USGI to the left marked with the "SW" I was wondering if they both might be original USGI. I'd heard so many bad things about the reproductions and this one didn't seem all that bad and has yet to malfunction in any way.
Someone said at one point that the "U" is the wrong size and in the wrong place on the Korean reproductions but as I've never seen a real one marked with a "U" I don't know. I'd appreciate any thoughts on this. I hope the photo is clear enough and that it attaches it seems to be fighting me for some reason.

Hard to tell from the picture but there are after market Korean mags that are indeed marked U. The U is bigger then the U marked GI mags made by Union Hardware during WWII, they were not carbine maker specific but a generic WWII magazine. From your picture the U looks to me like GI as I think the Korean U is much more pronounced (without one to compare hard to say).

It looks like a GI marking to me too. The Korean repros are a bit bigger.
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!

Looks like Gov't markings to me too.

I have to admit I am hoping it is an original. The first time I saw the gun it had a mag in it. The next time there was no mag and the owner said it was for sale without a mag. I noticed the price was still the same and as it was a good price I figured I'd get one later but I suppose since I kinda caught him he gave me that one but warned me it was a reproduction. Just didn't seem like one the way I'd heard them described and it worked perfectly. I like reading the old posts about mags where people are complaining that they were up to $7 and might even hit $10. They are sailing past those prices.

You guys have it good. They need to be blocked to 5 rds here and a pouch with two mags in it might be $70 CDN.

Years pass and prices change. Back in the late 80's you could by a sealed case of 100 GI magazines, and by different makers, for $100 a case. I thought I made a killing selling them at $3 each.

M1
rifle clips are $5 CDN here now average. I remember buying them from Numrich for $10 US per hundred when I bought them...all good USGI too as no one made copies for profit then. You could also buy a 45 gal barrel of them if you wanted...

Your SW is a post war mag produced by a war time contractor. the U is not a new made Korean. I do not know if it is post war or war time spare.
