I use CCI Quiet-22 or CB Shorts for the occasional *cough* that has to happen around my property, they are very soft sounding and effective.

Those long barrels do make them work well though.

Just picked up a box of CB shorts for the coming tree rat season in my backyard. First box I'd seen in years!!
Setup in the back of the shop with the door open, turn the air compressor on and send it.

You're lucky, you could license and use an M1903 with a Maxim silencer for squirrels...so you don't wake the neighbors on a Sunday morning... Or perhaps a Delisle repro...
