Glock 19 Disassembly problem, need help
I am having a problem removing the slide assy from my Glock 19. FWIW, I have had the pistol about 20 years so it is an "older version"? I don't shoot the pistol often and I can't remember the last time I disassembled it.
In any event, I am following the instructions in the original manual. Mag out, pull trigger, displace slide about 1/8 in to rear, push slide locks down, push slide forward. Only problem is the slide will only go forward about 1/8 from battery and it stops solid. The trigger is still to the rear. I have "reset" the slide and trigger and tried again a number of times, but the result is always the same.
What am I doing wrong?
Help appreciated!
Thanks,
Don

Are you holding the trigger rearward while trying to move the slide forward? Are you holding the slide lock down while manipulating the slide? You only need to pull it to release the striker. Let it go forward, pull the slide locks down and pull the slide back and forward as per the manual.
I use my left hand to hold the slide lock down while gripping the pistol by the butt with my right. I hook my right hand index into the ejection port to pull it rearward. As you pull the slide back you should feel a "click" when you've pulled it back far enough.
I'll check the process on my Gen 2 19 later today to make sure I've got the order right.
