No 32 scope
I recently bought this scope from a dealer. Considering the price included the scope, tin, mounting bracket and adjustment tool, it was "very" cheap. I don't think it is a clever copy and it certainly doesn't look like any of the "known" reproductions. I have attached some photos to view and would appreciate any comments.
Kind regards
Jerry Bourne
Moderator Edit: After you click on images to ENLARGE them, you may find they automatically size smaller in your browser's window making them harder to view. The auto sizing is your browser's way of keeping images entirely within the screen size you have set. Move your mouse pointer to the bottom centre of the pic and you will see an options panel appear. There will be a small square box next to the large X, which will have a pointer arrow sticking out of it. If it's illuminated, it means the pic you're viewing can be enlarged, so click on this box and the pic will EXPAND and open to its normal size. You can then grab the pic with your mouse (hold down left mouse button) and move it around to look more closely at various parts of the photo.

Lee Enfield and Warren. Can I ask what makes you think its an aged repro? There are many of us trying to learn from this forum so we need to know what it is that leads you to your conclusions. Is there any major thing that shouts 'Repro' or is it a number of things?
Thanks for any guidance you can give.

Let me put it another way. When you are away from home for a few weeks or months, you get a small pile of letters. And two of those letters come from your mum. You just know this. Nobody needs to tell you...... There's something about her writing......... the style, the little nuances ........ you know what I mean.
The same applies to that fake telescope and bracket. How do we know.............? Same as we know that letter is from my mum! And it's got Mk2 drum heads on it!

Peter has expressed it well. And of course you get to be able to tell that from seeing lots of originals over the years. One thing that the person who aged this scope down forgot to do was to take the razor sharp edges off the R&D drum casting. Look carefully at how sharp the edges are - you'll never see a real No32 like that. Usually serial numbers on the fakes are out of sync with known serial ranges, at least as far as I am aware. This leads me to suspect that the markings may have been got at too, or the manufacturers of the repro's are getting better & producing a more precise copy. It may be that the manufacturers are doing a better job of putting them together now....I don't check out the repro's as I don't want one. Note also the prominent rib on the scope bracket - this seems to be a common feature to all of the cheap & cheerful Pacific Rim copies, though not to the 'accumounts' copy, nor to mine.
Are the makers of the repro's now following the true serial number ranges?

Hi
Its a reproduction
Did this scope come from WWA, they do have reputation for selling pattern or type described items rarely do they use the word Original. They do offer a 28 day return policy

Having spent the last 42 years flogging cameras and seeing various fakes, mainly Leica they still have a value as a fake. Albeit a lot less than an original!
Does the same apply to the OP's fake No.32 scope?
