K11 Sight Fixes: Scope Mounts
Found S and K Scope Mounts at: S & K Scope Mounts Home Page - rifle scope, scope mounts, Insta-Mount, SKulptured Mounts, and ordered a Model 1911 mount for my K11, which turned out not to fit. I want to tip my hat to Sherry for her great customer service. It turns out that their #3165 (K31
) mount will work. All I had to do was ream out the hinge pin channel a bit with a 3/32 drill bit.
Seems very secure holding the Hi Lux LER 2-7x32 scout scope. I was concerned that I might have ejection issues but spent cases do eject, although they glance off the eyepiece slightly. Here is where a mount with a rail would be nice but then you gain height. Time will tell if this works out.

The old kitchen gunsmith trick. Love it. Hope you did not get in to much trouble. You have reminded me I have the scope procured but not the mount.
Project now moved off the back burner.
Thanks

Yes, you have to like tinkering, as long as you know your limitations. It turned out fine and the best thing is I didn't alter the rear sight base (didn't need to) so bringing back to "original" is as easy as removing / re-installing a pin.

Thx BA. I originally wanted the K 31 but couldn't find one in my budget.
Got a good deal on the K 11 from an online broker. Yes, the rifle is in very good condition generally BUT, the seller didn't tell me about the crack repair just behind, and to the right of the safety. Looks like a very well done but old repair. It is hard to see. I did get the rifle with what appeared to be a new, more recent crack in line with the bottom butt plate screw. Had my gunsmith repair it. He did an OK job. I'm not going to worry about it as I bought the rifle to shoot.
What's important is the barrel and crown are in great condition. When the rain stops here in GA, I'll take it to the range and give my thoughts on the scope and mount for anyone wanting to duplicate my efforts. I can say for sure that above 4x the eye relief on the Hi Lux scope gets considerably shorter. I guess that's why most of the scout scopes I've seen are fixed or narrowly adjustable with about 3x or 4x being the max.
