REMRAND with A stamped

I've just found on the Net a REMRAND for sale with that "A" stamped close to the S/N.
Contrary to what the seller states I don't think it has anything to do with the serial number, I suppose it could be the stamp of an assembler ? Strang place to put a stamp though. [​IMG]
The most amusing thing is that commenting this firearm on the gunstore site they write that perhaps the serial number was duplicated by mistake, or as an alternative they mention Mr Clawson: the gun was supposed to go to some "special forces"... [​IMG] honestly I don't recall ever having read anything about that written by Mr Clawson...

I'm interested about what other people more experienced than me would think of it.

Typically an A stamped on US military arms like that would indicate it was in an inventory somewhere with another weapon with the same serial number.

With the same serial number? How could it be possible since this pistol does not fall into any known SN overlap ranges?

Same serial number as another weapon in inventory not necessarily another 1911a1.
