I would think the shortening would be because the end gets weak at the frogs. The aluminum rivets would be what they had on hand and yes, the Greeks could do that. After altering they may mark it to them...are they manufactured by the Greeks? Possibly, they did need to overhaul their rifles. Show us the rest of this one?

Looks like it's soft as a mouse's ear...yes, very short. The holes aren't even much. Can't do much adjustment at all...I wonder, I wonder...others will be along though...

Hmmmmm? Looking at the way the holes only start at 36", could this be a recyled strap from an 1887 Trapdoor sling? With the short bit made up to compensate for the missing length?

Maybe, but the slings were marked then too... Love to have it in hand under my nose to see...don't know how that would help though. Just curious.
