The finish looks to be a Suncorite finish over the original blue. Others will be along to say for sure. This M1917 was held by the Commonwealth at one time to have had that done. There should have been red paint or inspection marks... $600 USD currently would be $788 CDN and would put it at the top end for here. I just passed on a minter for a bit more...

What is more important is, What is the condition of the bore! With a 1919 dated remmington barrel, I would expect it to be in great shape. I can't make out how many digits in the serial #. Around october of 1918
eddystone was parkerizing their rifles. When oiled, the parkerizing almost looks like bluing.
If the barrel is prestine than 500-600. Check out what they are selling for on gun broker

Looks like a 6-digit number to me, with the first digit being a 6. So Eddystone from 1st half of 1918 plus Remington barrel from 1919 plus what looks like very worn finish (see photo of back end of bolt and tang) plus other patches that are very shiny = a well-used Eddystone that has had a makeover.
As already said above, the determining factor is bore condition.

Bore is pretty nice condition for its age and compared to other U.S. Military barrels I have seen. Thank you all for your input.

I ended up trading the guy a fair condition Finnish
M28 plus $120 for it. I am pretty happy. The Suncorite actually looks pretty nice and isn't bubbling or anything. I'm pretty happy with the trade.

Sounds like a satisfactory deal, specially if you're happy with it.

Wasn't aware the Brits re built American Model 1917's at all. Please tell me if I'm wrong here.
Some one did though. Stock stampings ( if original stock) would help greatly.
As Patrick stated, it may be original parkerizing, oil makes it shine to much in the pics.
Any way good bore, good shooting, enjoy!
