Among other things...yes.
I was once stood on the commander's cupola of a Centurion tank, I was 17 at the time. My section commander turned and said..."Let's get going!" I simply stepped off and landed feet together on the gravel below, about 12 feet. I do remember that hurt...

Or running across a paddock at 60 km/h, hearing the engine rev as you go airborne across the ditch you didn't see, and landing so hard on the other side that you break the rear axle. That one hurt the back.
