Walther PPK - 1939

Well, it would eventually be a military service pistol.
I have one of these already with more finish wear that I'll be selling to fund this purchase.
I rarely pay full retail for things these days but I splurged here. Gosh this one is pretty! Just wanted to show it off.

As far as I'm concerned, there's no upgrading from this one. Perfect amount of wear on the high edges. Just like I like 'em.

Very nice, one of my all time favorites. I never had one, but I had the PP for a short while. Are you telling us this one is pre WW2?

According to this chart it is indeed from 1939.

This is my third. The first was in really rough shape, the one I currently have is not bad but this one coming is beautiful. I'm a James Bond junkie (read all the novels) so I have to have one.

Not many PPKs in Canada or has is just not been a priority for you?

They're now a prohib firearm and you have to have had one of that class since the inception of the concept. I sold all my firearms in that class,(12 class) and now can't have any of them, converted autos, autos, small handguns of .32 or .25 cal, barrel length 105mm or less. I could have one as long as the barrel has been made from new stock and is over 105mm, or about 4-1/4 in.

I had lots of that stuff past... No, there aren't too many any more either. The really nice ones are in collections.

That extra 1/2” of barrel length would greatly reduce the deadliness of the pistol. So I guess that makes sense.

This came in yesterday and is indeed that beautiful. There was a bit of a crack on the backstrap of the grip (common on these). My other PPK had it too but it was smaller so I've switched the grips.
My old one is up on Gunbroker and once that sells, this one will have a nominal upgrade fee associated with it. Somewhere in the $100 range. Not bad!

Now I'm working on a case for it like this factory one shown here:

I feel your pain Jim, we all have bloody ridiculous laws made by people who haven't got the first clue regarding firearms, but pander to the generally ignorant public.

My old PPK has sold. After fees and everything this one "cost" me about $240.

I guess I didn't realize what the market was like on these...so maybe I overpaid a little for this one.
I did keep the magazine that was in it with the brown bakelite extension (it wasn't number matching or anything). Those things are selling for an easy $150 or so. So maybe I didn't do so bad.

I had to buy my wife a PPK or she wouldn't carry it. Another James Bond junkie. It's a US made Walther, Smith and Wesson I believe, under contract.
