Serial # 7 million .308 Springfield Garand

Got an oddball here. serial number 70006xx Garand. No stock markings I can find. Stock is walnut but looks almost new.
Receiver markings all look standard except there is a trademark symbol (T in a circle) after Springfield Armory.
Kicker is; the barrel has no date. Only 308 stamp. Assuming this was manufactured by the Genesco IL Springfield and in 308 caliber.
Anyone know anything about this? Thoughts?

You are right, it was made by Springfield Armory Inc., Genesco, IL. They used a serial number series starting in the seven million range. Mine is a higher number than yours, 7005XXX. The nice folks at SAI said mine was made in May of 1982. The drawing number info on mine is 'MLF D 28291 32'. The receivers are investment cast.

As Tom says, yes. I too have handled these and replace parts so they will work correctly. Mostly you find NOS parts installed. Many don't like the investment cast receivers but I haven't seen one break around here yet. Mind you we don't have many of THOSE here...

Thanks for the information. Love the “THOSE” comment. What does NOS mean? Also, are the examples you own or have handled 308 or 30-06? If 308, are there markings other than on the barrel that I’m overlooking?

"New Old Stock"; that means, they were made for the US military, for use as replacement parts.

Both calibers are here, the last one was a 30-06 for clarity....308s are here too. Mostly old WW2 rifles though. Any that are .308 should be so marked...
