Rebarreling a .410 No1 Mk III question..
I was wondering if one of the 410 conversion rifles can be brought back to 303 by just rebarelling it?....I've rebarreled some 1903 Springfields & M1
Garands, but never went that far with an Enfield (but would love to try)...
What exactly was altered on one of these 410's? bolt face? extractor? magazine cutout? Also, what would I expect to pay for a shootable 303 barrel?
Thanks

In principle you should only need to replace the barrel but it depends what else has been done to it.
Some had the magazine 'well' plated and welded, some had it with just a wooden plug, and others somewhere between the two.
Some had the rear sights fixed / pinned.
If the rear sight is free to move and the magazine well is clear to use then nothing else (should) need be done.

410 re-barrel
Also bear in mind that rifles were sometimes converted to .410 because they had other faults too serious to let them continue firing ball ammo. Thes might not be barrel faults. You could end up with a rifle with a brand new barrel and grossly excessive headspace.

None of my business, but with the price of these .410 conversions on the way up, you may end up with rifle of lesser value.

If you want a real laugh, go to your local trap range with one of those .410 SMLE's
