Hi all.
Hopefully this is a simple question.
Does the gas cylinder locking bar (GCLB) serve any purpose other than to index the gas system and/or hold the gas system in place when the barrel is being slid into the body?
If the GCLB is preventing the barrel from sliding fully into the base of the Bren, is it ok to grind the top and/or bottom surfaces of the GCLB down a tenth of a mm or so?

Hi Feabagginns, are you working on a reweld? A Mk3 kit? I am not an expert but I had a problem with a Mk3 with a Mk2 barrel with no keyway. I got a Mk2 barrel with a keyway (Canadian/English) and it solved my issue even though they are all supposed to interchange. I would look at the key on the upper, maybe adjust there. The gas block extension fit in the gas cylinder will be tight to the top if this is off. The barrel socket could be misaligned or may have a booger in it. Put the barrel in 180* out so nothing else touches and eyeball everything. Hope this helps. Mk2 barrel with no keyway in photo. If this is not a reweld, disregard above, Corona boredom set in.
