I wonder if he still has the FAT marked stock that it came with? The Italian returns that I purchased from the CMP
for a little over $500, now sport nice, appropriate, original manufacturer stocks also...but I saved all the original Italian arsenal marked stocks to include with the carbines if I ever sold them. Somehow I don't think I could get $4,000 for them however 😁

Italians until recently still had a few hundred M1
Carbines which they recently sold. The majority of these rifles were in NOS condition, similar to the one from the auction. Probably half of them were lacking the bayonet lug/had the early band configuration, however NONE had the flip sights. I pictured one of these rifles here: https://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=72702 . It would not surprise me if these rifles soon will turn up for sale in the US, but then with import markings of course.

One of the pictures looks like the receiver has had a Wrench on it.
Then a complete refinish over the pitting.
Over here someone will miss that barrel stamp and pay big $$ for a Mis-represented Carbine.
