g41 (W) Springs

Good Afternoon,

Recently acquired G41 was seemingly stuck in Bolt-Action mode at the range. From some gunsmiths and collectors, we believe it might be the sear and/or trigger spring.

I am in need of some pictures of you triggergoup and its springs. How they mount and how they are sitting in the triggergoup would be helpful. I do note that my springs are a bit damaged (?) and a bit soft. Thanks, Randy

Rob Applegate solved several issues and said he shot 20 rounds with the bolt locking back on the empty magazine. Should have a chance to get it to the range next week. Randy

Maybe you can get a complete explanation from him and publish it here for us after? It would help in future if the same thing ever occurs to another... Pics of the rifle would be nice too if you would?

G41 back from Rob Applegate and all well. Rob said the sear spring was put back incorrectly and the bolt hold back mechanism needed a bit of adjusting. He fired-off 20 rounds and Rob said it worked flawlessly. Pictures next week after a short vacation. Randy

Thanks Jim. I remember seeing them in the 70s and 80s when I had more time to go to the gun shows. As a collector of military service weapons, I enjoy finding the first version/iteration of weapon. The G41 was Germany's first "Garand" and I find it is not as awkward as many shooters claim. Yes, I do understand that I would not want to clean it while on the Eastern Front. However, the rate of rife and accuracy seems good enough for 100-200 yards. Next on the list of "firsts," the SVT-38. Randy
