Screwed
Somehow I don't think I am meant tohave a love affair with my Krags. Was dusting off, oiling, etc. my '98 rifle when the peep sight was spotted on the desk. no wonder ! Screw was missing. SandS firearms listed one so I ordered one. My only fear now is that it will not be right screw.
Any know of another source ?
Thanks, Kab

You can try these guys. I don't know if they have it but you can check. I've bought trapdoor parts from them with no problems.

Agreed, those guys should have the right parts, they also know what you're asking for.

Here's another place you can try. I've never used them but my son in law has and he was very happy with the items and the service. As with any of these guys if you don't see it call or email to ask for a specific item.

I've been able to find the correct krag screws at ss firearms, NY.
https://www.ssfirearms.com
They also had repro front sight bases for when I fit up new criterion barrels. I'm about to do another.

If you read the original post he already ordered a screw from S&S so he knows of them. I think of the 3 dealers currently listed on this page as the holy trinity of parts suppliers for 19th century milsurp firearms.

LOL my brain read that as Sands, as in what you find on a beach.

If you have the Krag
model 1902 sight, S&S Firearms will send the correct original screw for the 'Sgt. Peep' plate.
I have gotten the plate and screw from them in the past.
Grandpa's Gunparts, (Movieman630 on ebay), is also an excellent vendor. He is the grandson of the late-Joe DeChristopher.
I have gotten a lot of parts from him with complete satisfaction. (Attached two sight part photos are from his site).
It would probably be a good idea to buy an extra 'peep-plate' and screw, while they are available and inexpensive.
Many Krag shooters enlarge the impossibly small aperture on the peep-plate, in order to use it.
