Central/Mues Sight Query & Favour?
I'm reaching out to our antipodean cousins on this one; does anybody, (Muffett??) have a sight they know is definitely in "small" MoA?
If so could they measure a half inch with a vernier micrometer on the sight scale and tell me how many MoA is within one half inch please?
A normal AJP 4/47 sight will give 50 MoA in half an inch so a small MoA will give more...but how many more?
The reason for this rather odd request is that a P-H 5c has turned up in the LERA collection (actually two of them!) and I am currently trying to work out exactly what it is calibrated in and what or why is was produced.
TIA

Norm O'Brien did a bit of a write up back in 2008, he should be on here......you out there swede?
The Brit system differed from the Oz one if I remember.
Also changes from Mk.VI to Mk.VII and then 7.62.

Mick, you could contact him swedeM63 on this website.
Did a bit of a check, most British
are 50 points to half an inch, Aussie ones up untill late 30's also then changed to 60 points per half an inch....marked 1" at 100yds.
Norm did an article called Classic Rifles and Sights where he explains the difference between true minutes and English minutes.
I think the variations of barrel length, sight radius and caliber come into play, I have used 1/2 minute, 1/3rds, 1/4 and 1/8th sights depending on smallbore or fullbore.

Muffett, perfect!
I had in my mind that 120 MoA per inch was correct for Aussie "small" MoA but just couldn't fully remember; the sight we are trying to identify has 66 MoA per half inch (132 MoA in a full inch) and can be found at the bottom of the page link you posted to Rifleman.og.uk.
Hopefully more to follow about this unusual P-H 5c "2" when we uncover more information.

Kevin, I think we're both on the same page with this one!
My only query is that I can't find anything in the Parker-Hale catalogue's to suggest the sight was ever marketed, and the fact that it was on an L39A1 makes me wonder if P-H were trialing it and gave it to the military to try.
My rather big assumption is that they were only ever research & development sights which escaped from the factory when everything was sold off.
PS, How long have you been a Kevin?
