    1886 Lebel Broken Extractor

    Good Afternoon,

Just tore down the Lebel and the extractor claw is broken off. I have two questions:

    1. Which way do I drive out the remnant of the extractor?
    2. Where do you believe I can find a replacement extractor? The usual shops do not have them.

    Thanks,
    Randy

Everything eventually turns on on eBay. It might take years but as you can't find it anywhere else, it's about all that's left. Numrich, Apex, IMA are all places you can look. The only place that has any lebels for sale these days is RTI. Occasionally, they will list parts but the numbers are very small and go fast.

The eBay-like site in Franceicon, Naturabuy.fr, had one that just came up for sale 24 December! Waiting on it as we speak.

    Thanks,
    Randy

I'm not extremely familiar with the LaBelle but if it's design is anything like the mosin nagant m9130 bolt head, I would imagine you drive the broken extractor out of the end where the bolt face is. In other words, hold the bolt where the bolt face is pointing away from you, catch the back end of the extractor with a chisel or punch and drive forward. It may take a little force to do this because them little extractors are force fit in the bolt head channel. That's what I had to do replacing my m9130 extractor.hth

I never had much luck with the Frenchicon site. All the items I ever found they refused to ship to the US. Good luck, glad you found one.

I got the broken extractor out by punching toward the rear of the bolt. I did take a good thumping but I got it out. Now waiting on the replacement.

I may be remembering it backwards, it's been a long long time when I replaced mine. You can look in the extractor channel and kind of see a taper where the resistance would be. Glad you got it out
