    Westly Richards 303

Westley Richards 303 Sporting Rifle B.S.A. | Trade Me

A bit of a rareish one, is the price crazy or is that right for this rifle? The condition is a bit er patina'd, as they say.

I like the look, shame about the timber.

Does the flattened bold handle indicate a cavalry past?

it has its correct timber but the front sling swivel should not be where it is. what is wrong with the rifle is the barrel and rear sight . looks like some one stuck a military barrel into a sporting rifle

No all sporting rifles had the handle like that

Looks like a genuine sporter but the swivel is definitely out of place.

The TradeMe site makes it harder than hell for a non-kiwi to register or even ask the seller a question. Is anyone here a member of TradeMe who can ask the seller for some details on markings?

For my research project, I would love to put a date on this one and compare it to some other Westley Richards Lee Speeds I have examined.

    Thanks!

Mainly barrel length and markings (proofs, any numbers on the action, barrel, trigger guard, or the top-rear flat part of the action where the bolt slides in), also the specifics of how and where it is marked Westley Richards. And a request to the seller to pass along my email address to the buyer, in case they want to let me use a photo in publication.

Sorry, I missed you reply there. The rifle didn't sell but I'll pursue it and see if I can find the owner. In the meantime this came up, interested?
