Octagon Barrel
Sent off my Mk1 Springfield sporter to my gunsmith yesterday. A friend gave me a 26 inch tapered octagon Douglas barrel blank. It will be chambered to 30-06 and installed on the MK1 action. Will post pictures when I get it back and in the stock. Always wanted a barrel like this one.

I too, like those 8siders. In my opinion, they look very nice.
A 26" tube also works good with some slow burning powders when making up your own handloads.
Good luck, DW

Ken,
I did that with a Krag
. It looks great and is something that will probably be handed down in my family for generations.
Pictures, please!

I will post pictures as soon as I get it together. My gunsmith Mel Doyle in Pomeroy Idaho usualy gets my project back quick. Wife had a mild heart attack on Monday morning was transfered to Missoula Mt on Tuesday. Brought her home today. Doing well. Made the 12 mile trip to the hospital in a little over 6 minutes. Probably what saved her. Everyone stay healthy.
