A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I purchased one last year. After a parkerize, and BLOicon on wood looks good. Action fits good. My only complaint is that there was a wobble. The detent was not made right. Some welding and filing and it is now OK. I intend to do some more work this winter. If one had a tig setup and a mill it would be a piece of cake.

Also the vinyl cheek piece stinks. I replaced it myself with leather. Only problem is finding, if you are cheap, acceptable rivets.

The older one Sarco was selling had leather cheek pads. I did not know they were making them out of vinyl.
    Thanks for that.

Sarco has their's for the same price, but IMO, built a little better. Mine had no fit problems except for about 1/16" that had to be removed from the handguard in order to fit. Lockup is tight with no wobble and effort needed to close.
Sarco's contact number is: 908 647-3800 (No internet shopping).
    Web page is:
Sarco, Inc., Firearms, Firearms Parts and Accessories
BTW, their cheekpiece is leather, not Naugahyde.

If it was made prior to the NYS AWB taking effect, then it is legal. That's not likely, hence, the prohibition of shipping to NY.

They are not fakes - they have no military markings, unless someone bought some and tried to resell them with fake markings. Anyone who has ever seen a real one would never think for a moment that these are 'real'. They're just good reproductions for those who just want one and don't want to spend a fortune for it. I had one of the early Italianicon-made ones and stupidly sold it about ten years ago.
