1945 dated BSA No.4's
Greetings All
Just looking though my '45 dated BSA No.4's and had a question for all of you.
Does anyone know what the earliest letter prefix for a 1945 dated rifle? I had a "Q" prefixed 1944 rifle and I have a "T" prefix 1945 rifle, leaving "R" and "S".
Second question, has anyone seen a "W" prefix 1945 rifle?
Thanks!

I own a BSA No.4 Mark 1(T) dated 1945 and with the serial number R35XXX
I also own a BSA No.4 Mark 1(T) dated 1945 with the serial number X31XXX
So, it would seem that 'R' prefix fell into 1945 and seeing as I have an 'X' prefix 1945, it would sem that 'W' also fell into 1945

In the MKL
there is an “R” prefixed 1944 No4Mk1(T). So it would seem that the "R" prefix was the last of 44 and overlapped into 45.

Thanks guys. I have a T, U, V, X series '45 BSA's, just was wondering when they started, which is now known as the R series.
On the other side, what is the latest X series out there? My rifle is X34400.

I have a 1945 BSA rifle that was converted to a MkI/2 in 1953 that only has a 4 digit s/n without a prefix. I am assuming it was given a new s/n by ROF-F when it was converted.

I also have a "T" prefixed BSA No4 but it is also a T (as in No4Mk1(T) ). I wonder how close the serial numbers are?

My '45 No. 4T with a T series s/n is T32497 and is fitted with the very rare Vickers Mk 2/1 scope. Is yours close? What type of scope is fitted with yours?

I recently sold a pristine 1945 No.4Mk.1T, sn. R39xxx. I still have one 1945 "T" with a V prefix serial number.

I hope your '45 T with R series s/n did not have a second contract AKS scope; then my heart will not be broken!

Mine is T33849 with a Taylor-Hobson MK3 so very close. I also have a 1944 C prefixed T with a Taylor-Hobson MK3 as well.
An older photo but my "T" prefixed "T":
