I fired the Live Fire in the Assualt at Ft. Benning. Ga circa 1969. Perhaps 30 days prior to my shooting they had a fatal accident on the course. An OCS Candidiate stepped in front of his buddy and one round went into his head/back. Easy to do on the course. When I fired the course I had an NCO holding on to my buttpack pushing and stopping me as I fired. Tough summer as that summer they had an ROTC cadet throw a grenade on the Grenade Course and he suffered a spontaneous detonation. Killed an NCO and took off the Cadet's hand. Tough summer.

Man, that first photo brings back of memories of Ft. Jackson spring of 1966. Still have my handbook with notes and the SN of my M-14. Got a trophy for being 3rd high scorer. That was the fun part of basic.

In the Mekong Delta the big bunker complexes were home to Bamboo Vipers. A really serious snake. At night you had to look around the bunker and pay attention where you put your hand.

Whats that "thing" your holding in this picture? Yuck! Seriously though, I my have the rifle you're holding in the trunk of my patrol car. My cheapskate L.E. agency issued me an M16
complete with triangular handguards and USGI sling. Don't know how you felt about the rifle your holding there, but I can't hit squat with mine. It keyholes anything heavier than 55gr. bullets. I enjoyed your photo though. Thank you for your sevice.
