m1 garand - What's it worth?

I own a M1 with serial number being issued from 1942 by Springfield Armoury, the gun came with bayonet, 12 (8 round clips) and sling. Does anyone know how to appraise a gun like this or it's estimated value?

It could be worth from $350 to $3000 depending on the condition and how original it is There are hundreds of variables. Good quality pictures would be a start, post them for people to see. Otherwise, document the number on each part and post them here for a start.

The only real way to get a rough idea on the value of most firearms is to check GunBroker, Guns America, or other auction sites and find rifles as close to yours as possible to see what they are bringing(actual bids, not asking prices).

If it has original barrel and finish, both in good condition, it has some "collector value". Someone would want to restore it, especially an early '42. Original stock for a '42 would also raise value. If barrel is not original, receiver does not play as big a part, I believe. If it is your average mixmaster, value will be estimated on condition of rifle as a whole.

You can take into consideration CMP's prices, which are good for what you get. If you look on Gunbroker, check out the "completed auctions" (must be registered) for prices that people have actually paid.

But enough talking about what it "might be worth", strip it down, list the parts, and most importantly, post pics.
