1909 bayonet
Hi everyone. I recently obtained a 1909 RIA bayonet The blade is 16inches log with a wood handle. Blade is aslo stamped US 156500. I am not a collector, but I would love to know more about this piece. It belonged to a family member who due to his condition, can no longer tell me about it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks Have a great day!

Go to the 1903 Springfield Rifles Forums and at the top of the page, you'll find a "sticky" thread for a manual.
United States Rifle, Cal .30, Model 1903 Manual (click here)
Download the manual (PDF file) and about half way through reading it, there's an interesting discussion about the bayonet and accessories, including the scabbards etc.
It's a good start ...
Hope it helps ...
Regards,
Badger
