No.4 Mk 2 prices in the Canadian market

    Yo.

I have been narrowing down my choices for my first military surplus purchase, and I have decided to go with a Fazakerly No.4 Mk 2. My initial choice is a 1950s Long Branch, but I can't seem to find one at this time.

Now about pricing and what I should pay for Mk 2 is eluding me at the moment . I have seen prices as low as $375 and high as $1200. I am new so I need some help.

example: a "very good" condition compared to "as new" or "excellent". Accessories (sling, bayonet, pull cord) versus no accessories. Matching numbers, Year, FTR... Basically I am looking for what to expect to pay for various alterations of rifles on the market.

But anything would be helpful. Stories and anecdotes welcome.

Condition is everything in purchasing any rifle. As far as Enfields, regardless of location, you will see a range of pricing and condition.

Some basic advise 1) check to ensurethe rifle is number matched. 2) bore condition must be very good with not darkening or pitting 3) stock is not damaged 4) rifle is complete as the dollars start to add up if you replace sights, mag etc. 5) history if available

Prices in Canadaicon for 303's....Long Branches are the most desireable..go from $400.00 some wear and tear, to a very nice $800.0...saw a "one of", exceptional figured wood (fiddleback walnut post war LB) $2200.00. You should be able to pick up a Brit MK11 for $700.00..these often come with the sling and bayonet.

    Hope this helps,

    Ron

i have a Fazakerley 1954 no.4 mk.2 all matching in excellent shape. i paid $350 for it about 5 years ago. it would fetch more than double now..
i also have a 1950 long branch, again all matching and excellent. i paid $325 for it from a friend about 5-6 yrs. ago. worth at least $800 now.
this is in Canadaicon so you can expect to pay around $750 - $800 for either of these today!!

    hope this helps
    Phil.
