Doug, I searched the site you kindly recommended and the carbine was mentioned with a small write up, however there wasn't an exploaded view but a lot of good information for many other weapons. thank you for your assistance and direction. I've found 2 views on the carbine but the print was totally unreadable. Thank you once again fireminer.

Did you click on the link I posted above and download the WHB Smith small arms manual? In it, he covers stripping and assembling of a wide range of milsurps from several countries.

Ray, thank you for your post of berthier exploaded view, but the last time I studied French
was 52 years ago and after number of health problems I just can't figure the view out. I do appreciate the view and thank you again.

Fireminer, get yourself a copy of the book "Bolt Action Rifles" by Frank DeHaas. It will give you an exploded view of all parts plus a disassembly guide. Truly a must have book for the discerning rifleman. Book has saved me grief on innumerable occasions.
And it's a good deal cheaper than Mowbray's disassembly book and considerably more comprehensive as he covers virtually every turnbolt rilfe in existence including commercial models at the time of printing in the mid-1970's.
Good luck!

Just click on this to translate the French to English. It will open right up to the translate page. Type in the words and an instant translation, works great, Ray

Thanks a lot, I didn't know about this book (not available here). Looked it up on Amazon - it has gone straight onto my "must get" list!
