    K 31 looks good.

A Shotgun news advertiser has K 31's for just over $200 and I'm considering getting one. My search for a cheaper mauser (yugo 24/47 or a 48 ) is just to get a start in the milsurps bolt guns. Some threads swear by the swiss and many the mausers so if i can't narrow it down i may have to get both or a mosin/nagant.

I came to the conclusion that I could own 1 rolex watch or 2or3 very nice rifles,or 9or10 good arsenal rebuilt rifles. I'm in this last category now and may only get to some where in between cat 2 and three. My $80 swiss army watch works just fine.

Some shooters have described the K31 as "Target rifles disguised as military issue," or something to that effect. As with anything Swissicon-made, they are marvels of precision and detail. Another plus: The widely available Swiss milsurp ammo is match-grade quality and accuracy. BTW: Some feel the more attractive walnut stocks are worth the premium, over the beech stocks. Bonus: many rifles include a slip of paper under the buttplate with the original soldier's name and address. I tracked mine down to the original owner's son (his father, who patrolled the Germanicon border with this rifle during WW2, now deceased).

Nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without result.

You're right! This one is a full dress k1 ready to holler downrange.
