Went to the gun show today to sell a couple of rifles and to NOT buy anything else. And sell two rifles I did but I also bought another Model of 1917. This is starting to get to be a problem.
It's a real nice mixmaster - Eddystone receiver #285xxx with mostly Eddystone and Remington parts with a real pretty Winchester barrel (2/19) and stock. I bought it because the Winny barrel was just beautiful inside and out - gauges a hair less than a 2 for muzzle wear and the TE gauge - which may not be the right one for a 1917 - shows 2.5. Headspace was good too as it closes on the Go but not on the NoGo gauge. The dang thing is full of thick brownish read grease.
It's got arsenal rebuild marks - the "3 GM-K" is one that I'm familiar with but the AOL is not familiar. Maybe this was AAOL and that first A was rubbed off? Anybody ever seen this mark before?
It also came with a real nice 1907 sling - I think these are worth some money, aren't they?
Anyway it's going to be another shooter and I wanted to share. Thanks for looking.
