HT Scope adjustment, elevation
In answer to a question on how to, here's a quick run down.
As always, use a bit of common sense when dealing with such delicate and valuable things. If it doesn't want to cooperate, don't force it.
Elevation adjustment?- very easy, really. Just get it shooting spot on at a measured distance with MkVII ammo- (200 yards would be a good start but 100 would do) regardless of what the range drum reads.
Then without moving anything, gently nip up the drum lockscrew. Loosen the two screws in the centre of the range dial. They hold the centre steel disc down, which clamps the brass disk with the graduations on it to the adjustment drum.
Then simply turn the graduation dial only under the clamping disc until it lines up the correct range with the pointer/mark. Carefully lock down the two clamping screws and test fire.
You will need to check the range of movement of the drum. If it does not turn all the way to maximum range on the dial, and you need it to, then there may be other adjustments required.
Remember, the graduations are correct for MkVII ammo only. If you are using some other load, then zero it for your most common distance and then record the range scale reading for other ranges as you sight it in at those distances.
Three pics, first the assembled range drum, next side on showing the relationship between the lockscrew and dials, then the adjustment gear removed to show what's in there... Note, the shaft is driven by the bottom steel plate, and the lockscrew acts on this plate.
