pay pal - who uses it ?
i tried it once a long time ago to secure a bayonet i had to have , it was overseas , i was successful and forgot about it , a while later i had a seller that would not take it , so i just left it lie - dormant ,
recently i had a buyer who would only use it , so i reactivated , he didnt pay , i should not have shipped without confirmation , ive done that often when i was comfortable with the buyer , but that is the ONLY one that ever stiffed me , he was in europe so you all need not worry much ,
now ive got a small amount of cash in the account from a recent rash of sales as a result of cleaning the storage areas , ive asked for a check - they say two weeks - is that reasonable when the deposits are made instantly from the folks i dealt with ? just wondering , im not upset or in a hurry ,
but they took $15 from my account so far , is that normal ?

Yes, it's normal for them on both points. (Not right, but normal for them)
I closed my account years ago for several reasons, including their anti-gun stance. Sometimes I feel like I might have shot myself in the foot when some people won't take anything else, but I figure if that was the case I didn't need whatever it was that bad anyway.

I sometimes have wished I had it but then I hear a story like this and get over the feeling.

I used Paypal with good results. But after $10,000 in transactions on ebay etc. they wanted direct bank account debit not credit card. I bid them farewell. They are just a tool. Gary

now that was one of the things i was wondering about , ive not given them that and dont intend to unless i set up a separate account for just that purpose , seems a lot of rig-a-ma-role to go through for the service ,
ive requested a check - we shall see how long it takes to get here

That was one of the other things that peeved me about them.
I set up a separate checking account just for Paypal because I didn't want there to ever be any kind of screw up that might ever interfere with my actual account. I have heard stories where they froze accounts when a buyer had a dispute, etc.
Even when I just made a regular electronic transfer from the Paypal account to my bank account they would still hold the transfer for days before allowing it to go through even when there hadn't been any transactions for months.

I use paypal all the time. I especially enjoy paying for firearm parts or accessories with it given their stance.

I use it too and never had any problems. Except their overseas payments are very difficult, but that may be normal for our laws.

I have never used it and won't partly due to their anti gun policy. Have a friend that has had problems ( according to him) with his account, money just vanishing so he is very reluctant to use it now.
I have always paid with a certified cheque or money order dealing mainly here in Canada
so won't open a paypal account.
Like others, if the seller insists on paypal guess I can do without it.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?
