Just purchased. 1905 with M3.
Finally I get a break. 1905 at the gun show in Victoria from an aquaintance for $135 CDN. This one's for the 1941 SA M1
I have.
Interesting the way my pics loaded...

thats a fine looking specimin , the grip scales are in excellent condition , the bay may have been re-arsenalled , but its a period piece in marvelous condition ,
the scabbord is actually one of the ones made for the plastic mk I bayonet but its made to the same specs as the M3 and i have seen them paired with M1905s frequently ,

I would really rather have the m1910 scabbard but...wouldn't we all. Yes, that was my mistake calling it the M3. It's clearly marked. I wonder about the re-arsenal. I'm just quite sure it's not a J Public gunsmith doing it because of the way it's done. I did lots of them and this isn't the way they turn out. These would have been parked in 1918, agreed? They started that in 1917? The black on the blade is because of the hardening by arsenic or lead pot or whatever they did?
I'm actually quite pleased to have it.

Same finish as the one I picked up a while back, (with repro grips).

Yes, the grips are an easy tell. They'll do until you can corner real ones. Unfortunately they go for a great deal on Fleabay. But they can be had. I was told originally to go look at the "repro bayonet down there" and when I saw this I didn't dare put it back down. Many felt foolish after. Now I've got it. Possibly the best looking 1905 bayonet I've actually seen.
Now, for the 1910 scabbard...

your grip scales are correct - last post are not , the finish on your bayo looks correct to me -the finish on the last post looks correct for 'between wars' refinish by arsenal , as to the 1910 scabbord - i have one that is promised but ill ask the guy if he might like the USN mkI as an alternative , maybe we all get happy

That would suit me just fine IF it worked out that way...Thanks
