IBM with X marked on top round bolt.

While reading the current issue of the Carbine Club newsletter I got this out for comparison. It seemed like a good time to take some pictures and ask for options and comments regarding proper parts for this serial number and originality over all.

I don’t think there are any reproduction parts or that the front or rear sights have ever been removed, but someone else may see it differently. The IN B of the right side of the rear sight was double struck; looks to me that the stamp was badly worn.

Hey John,

That's a very nice IBM. At first glance I would have said your L379 slide is too late, but it may very well be one that was laterally transferred from Inland during this time. Thanks for sharing and here's another X Bolt IBM carbine. This example is a birch low wood, AOB slide, type 1 band, F OB rear sight, and IBM barrel, no date.

I've got a 3.8 mil IBM with IBM barrel. The barrel has no date and no ordnance bomb. I think it might have been made around 12-43, or 1-44. In WarBaby, some of the IBM carbines going through trials 12-43 had s/n's really close to mine. What kind of camera are you using? - those are great pictures. - Bob

Mine was also produced around the same time frame. Those photos are several years old and were taken using the macro setting. Still have the same camera, a Canon A310.

I should have been more specific about which pictures, but both sets are great! My old digital camera is a Sony MVC-FD95 (floppy disk) and my newer one is a Canon A-560 which ran about 1/5 the cost. They both have their strong points. I use the Canon more because it's small and simpler. Thanks - Bob
