Conversion Unit, .22 LR - Compl w/ 22 Cal. Bolt Assy & 26'' Chamber/Liner Insert
Is the installation straight forward. Any thoughts or cautions?

They were reading my mind........ I had thought about designing just such a beast when I retire but I'd have retained the barrel by a spring loaded captive plunger the entered into the gas escape hole to the left of the body.
Anyone who buys this beast will have to be aware that if you put it down hard at the muzzle, the muzzle retaining nut WILL damage the thin barrel wall. It was a constant problem for the old revolver barrel inserts in the .38" No2 pistol
Now I'll just have to concentrate on a 7.62mm magazine for the No4/L42's that will work, reliably, all the time, based on the simple, cheap, wrapped and folded magazine fitted to the 7.62mm L96 sniper rifle that ALMOST fit as they are..................

note that they advise you wqill need to headspace when its fitted to your individual rifle , not a big deal , but a step that needs to be done correctly
i made a conversion for my M1903A3 using an M22 bolt , it all assembles easily but i left the chamber adapter a tad long to headspace with a chamber ream , once done its wonderful fun and functions great ,

I've got one. Great fun and cheap shooting. Don't forget that there is supposed to be a fiber washer of some sort to protect the muzzle. Mine is missing and I just used a plastic one dug up from the bits in the garage. Enjoy!

If I was doing it on a No1,4 or 5, I'd also use a No8 cocking piece to reduce the lock time and reduce the unnecessary striker spring weight too. My thoughts on the geometry is probably getting a bit too complicated for the keep it simple philosophy in use. But a well needed addition to the L-E stable.
Just think............ you COULD use a 7.62mm L1A1 rifle sub calibre barrel, a No7 or 9 bolt and have some fun with your L42......

I have had 2 of them over the years
the original conversions only came with the bolt head and firing pin that you fitted to your exisiting bolt. head space is easy to set with the conversion by shiming the rim of the chamber end of the barrel liner. they are good for an easy conversion just make sure to grease the bore so they dont rust weld together.
if you take the spring and follower out of the mag and tune the extractor and ejector the empy cases will drop into the mag body
if you want to make the conversion permanent just JB weld the liner in

I have one of the earlier ones. Will only fit on certain rifles, not a universal "fits all." On the rifle it did fit, the best grouping I could manage was a 5 inches wide at 25 meters.
