Type 1 Front Sight Question???
I have an Inland M1
carbine receiver #5,262 898 with an Inland barrel 6-44. I believe the front sight is a Winchester unmarked type1. It has the correct Winchester profile and heavy thumbnail milling marks ( I'm almost 100% sure it's Winchester). My M1 has been thru a RIA/EB rebuild. Is it possible that my M1 carbine was issued with the Winchester type1 front sight from Inland in late 1944 or do you think it could have been installed during the rebuild??? Thank You for your input!!!

I would say during the rebuild.

I see NO Frt Sights from WRA to Inland, After taking a look at War Baby.
Do see that Underwood passed along 1500 Frt sights on 9-02-43.
So.... I'd also lean towards the Frt Sight being installed at Re-Build.
More fun facts,
Did you know Inland received 1000 Stocks and Hand guards from NPM (TRIMBLE ?) 7-17-43.
Also noted that Inland received from Rock-Ola 10,084 Stocks and Hand Guards in 10-06-43.
Maybe these are the ones marked RMC in the slingwell with the I stamped near by.
Now......... How bout a picture????
Thx,
