It's amazing, isn't it? When you hold this thing, you can see that they stuffed the insise with this stuff, even appears to have the trigger wrapped! I can't help but think that these were put away to be used at a later date in some sort of guerrilla action against future occupation forces. Who knows??

I do not think I could resist unwrapping. That being said it probably should be left as is.IMO. Tough call. Thanks for the pictures.

It is amazing, I can't imagine unwrapping it and destroying a unique and once in a lifetime piece of history. I'd like to know more about it as well. Why would anyone did to fire it?

I have been following your story with great interest. Thanks for the photos. My personal opinion is that it should stay wrapped... there's tons of similars out there that aren't, this could be the chance to own a super unique and rare "variation". If you want a prestine example of a WWII Japanese
rifle, they can be found fairly easily without needing to be unwrapped. I hope I am not out of line but out of sheer curiousity, would you mind divulging the asking price of this rifle? Price could definately help people make a decision whether they would unwrap or not.

Look, Tut-Amamoto!
Buy it and leave it wrapped! This opportunity will probably never present itself again.
