12-330 Garand Picture of the Day

Returning from the Front Lines, Saipan, 5 July 1944
"Marines of the Second Regiment, Second Division, come off the front lines after twenty days of slugging it out with, and defeating the Japs in their assigned sector of the battle of Saipan, which included the town of Garapan. Their rest was short-lived for two days later they were rushed back into the lines to support hard pressed Army troops, and to secure the remaining two miles of the island."

Nice, a bazooka I think! 3rd guy on the right. Carbine with the bearded guy up front. Looks like the Garand
guys still have their bayonets on. Did they normally do that when they were marching?

2nd guy on the left? It's really hard to see the barrel. Wow. You got good eyes. I was just blown away by the bazooka. For some reason I don't really see that many in pictures.
