I do not wish to give offence, so I will refrain from saying more than that I think that this is not a good idea.

So why not leave it alone? I see that you are a newcomer, and I do not wish to put off anyone who wishes to learn something from the forums, but I suggest that you read around a lot before pursuing this idea further.

I agree with Mr Chadwick...and further, there are threads here from previous that outline the problems and mods...

hmmm. avoid using the P14 follower and spring, as well as the bolt,
a 1917 follower and spring, with 17 mag box, modified for belted mag will work, you will have to open up the rails as well,
and modify a 1917 bolt face for magnum case heads,
im building a .577 TREX on a 17 action.. and have done a few other 17s with a belted case conversion.
i have a few 17 actions that have already had the sight ears ground off, that i picked up for the original barrels on them, so building neet magnums wont hurt them.

chuckindenver,
What are the reasons that a P-14 or 17 work to make a 45-70 out of?
Thanks

not sure, never tried that, worth a try, let us know how it works out. the OPs question was about a belted magnum.
