Correct bolt heat treat question
My SA 1903 Mk1 is S.N. 1098880. Per john Beards tables, the bolt heat lot code looks like it could be either J5 or L7? Dated 4-1919. So which of the, two would be "more" correct?
Thanks

Oops, meant to say L2 steel lot code, not L7. Shouldn't try to write (or think, apparently), when it's past my bedtime.

Seasons' Greetings!
For your rifle, either of them can be considered equally correct. Whenever a production change occurs, a concurrent overlap serial range exists. Your rifle falls in the overlap range.
Hope this helps. Happy Holidays!
