7.62x56?
Someone locally has some ammo he describes as "two tins of ammo marked 7.62 x 56. Supposedly they are .303 Enfield British
"
Isn't .303 actually 7.7x56R?

So, if it is, indeed, marked 7.62x56 ..... I wonder what it really is. Google etc. has been less than helpful. Forum opinions are decided. One actually said ...... 'it's for Russian
rifles'.

The only round that fits is the .303 and it's in tins which would be military. It could have been made in many different countries so the only way to be sure is to open one up or to say what else is on the tins.

If the tins have Chinese writing on then suspect they contain 7.62x39 for the model 56 rifle. (Chinese copy of the AK 47)

The listing has now changed ..... He opened one tin and it is 7.63x39! 'Mystery solved' as he says. Oh well.
