Help with identification
New guy question.
I recently acquired a Lee-Enfield No4 Mk2 with a ser# of A168XX F 57 FTR. The receiver has 303 British United Kingdom
IAC Alex Va just in front of the ser#. Can someone tell me the date for this weapon, where it was made and an approx value. The stock is in good condition and the finish is 98% on the bluing. There is a little light ware at the muzzle. I need the approx value/replacement for insurance in case of theft.

We need pics... but what it sounds like is fazakerley 1957. And is the finish on the metal bluing or baked on paint? If its a fazakerley it should be finished in suncorite which is just baked on paint.

I just HAVE to ask......... How the heavens do you shoot a telescoped rifle like that with what looks like negative eye relief?

Although your rifle says "FTR 57" - ie "factory rebuild in 1957" - it was probably never actually "rebuilt", but was a brand new rifle that was inserted into a batch of FTR rebuilds in order to make up numbers or replace something that was scrapped. Most of the rifles marked in this style show no evidence of having been refurbished from an older rifle. E.g. from the photo, it appears that the receiver is the late-pattern Mk2 version with no cut-off boss on the right side.

Any thoughts on what the value would be as it is and what it would be with the original stock? The stock is in very good condition. Light handling marks and good finish.

In UK
the rifle might be worth £380-450, depending upon the condition of the rifle and original woodwork (many of this batch are in mint condition). Where you are in US, I'm guessing it might be $350-ish (less scope)?
